Mafia Marathon

We went up to my ward camp out this weekend (Friday night). We got away a little late so it was dark by the time we got there (tradition I think! Uggg)

The Felix’s, & Betz were soooo good to us, fed us well and helped us put up our tents when we got there. We had some delicious Dutch-oven yuuuuuuuummy food (nothing loved-up there!) After a few games we settled into what would be a two day “Mafia-marathon”
We did get a little cold at night; Meagan and Sydney had to re-bundle in the night I woke up to "Jera, Jera - Is she still in here? I dont know - Jera..?" - Poor girls, I guess they were a little chilly.
We got up the next day to yummy breakfast burritos just to give us fuel for more Mafia.
(you’d think by all the mafia we played I’d be better- but I still couldn’t talk my way out of dying three times tonight! Joel- I need more lessons!)
We were able to take Kali with us camping and Paige and Brooke came over today to play. I love all their cute faces! We have so much fun – Thank you all for sharing your wonderful children with us! What a fun weekend!
I guess I am off for my first full week on the ‘trail’ – should be fun! Funny that I went camping on my last weekend before going to the extreme – I am glad that I went plush style! Cami even blew up an air mattress for me! Thanks Cam!!
Thanks for the fun y'all!

"Loved-up"

You know, among friend it’s always fun to give each other a hard time now and then.
Cami sometimes likes to do that to me about the fact that for the most part I don’t like to share a lot of things that have to do with bodily fluids – Like cups, forks, Air space that contains sneeze particles – you know stuff like that.

I wasn’t even always like this. I used to share food and air space with anyone. I think this happened sometime during the Robert era. He definitely had germ issues and it has stuck! Maybe this will be more therapy that I thought for myself! - Therefore- the following:

I learned a new term this week “loved-up” is a trail word .. in the fictitious trail dictionary it might read something like: Loved-up: A Term used to describe the process of food preparation wherein lieu of cutting, chopping, or dicing the food is put into a trail-walker or young walkers mouth and masticated to in turn be spewed back out into the camping cup to be cooked then eaten at a later time with the rest of the cooked ingredients. Such as: The dried tomatoes were loved-up while preparing the lasagna.

So, this is not a process that I am the most excited about… The other walkers think it’s pretty funny and already like to give me a hard time about it. Tuesday on the trail Ramsey said to me – “hey Jera, would you love this up for me?” while handing me a clove of garlic. I gave him my best and most sincere “ Are you kidding me right now?” face, and the words came with it. He continued “ Aw, come on you can do it” - I told him no, but thanks anyway. Then he went back to Dawn- “Hey Dawn, Will you love this up for me?” She said Sure! And within seconds the garlic was ready for our rice.
I told them they could definitely skip putting it in mine, that I won’t love-up my own food yet, let alone am I ready for someone else’s lovin’. – All this protest while they scooped “my” share onto my rice uggggggggggg. I was struggling with that.

In a few minutes, the rice was ready. I asked Jonathan if he wanted to “share my rice”? He said yes! Awesome. Needless to say I gave him the generous sized top portion before I mixed in the loved up garlic –so I escaped garlic loven’ this time..
Something tells me I might not make it out of this without some loving up at some point -
It’s pretty common on the trail to love-it up then share whatever is in the cooking process among trail walkers. After Dawn had finished – Ramsey said “ Thanks! I NEVER love up garlic!” haha – Dawn smelled like garlic for two days I am sure.

Anasazi

So, I have been wanting to check out this Anasazi thing for a while. I know that I have been really interested in it and ‘drawn’ to it.. I have felt like it is an important piece of the ‘Happiness Clinic’.
I just completed the first week of training and I have to say I am more excited than ever to move forward with this!

As I sat in this place and watched the sun set I knew this is right where I needed to be :-)

I went in Monday morning and it felt like I had known all the trainees in my group already for years! That is so rare for me with a whole group like that! There was such a comfortable feeling there – As I went through the next few days in the wilderness of Tonto National Forrest with just the essentials –
The clothes on my back
Oats, rice and a few other nutritional food items
Water, puncho and sleeping bag
I was so excited that this whole program is based on the bare basics – Physical and emotional pureness. It’s amazing what you can feel out there for extended periods of time with no distractions.
We had an awesome experience talking with a couple of the young walkers who were going home while we were there – they truly had been transformed while they were ‘on the trail’.
There are no elusions that this is a program to ‘fix’ any one or anything though that is often the perceived result. The mission statement is to turn the hearts of the children and the parents to each other so they can weather the wilderness of life together.
I am so excited for what comes next and worried because I am such a wimp in the cold!
I need to get some WARM gear!
In the meantime I am continuing to train and learn the ‘lingo’ of the trail, and cultivate new friendships- this is going to be a fun chapter!

Wake boarding! - sup' with the pics?

On Friday Kerry took a big group of us wake boarding at Canyon lake. Despite getting away a little late is was a blast!
The weather is getting cooler and it was perfect up there! I guess Cami took a video of me riding, so I don’t have pic’s of me on the board- but we got some other ones-
It was blast, Thank you all! - Lets go again!

Oh, and after, thanks to Shannon we ate at the “coolest” restaurant. Jessica – what did Guy's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives say about it? It was good is all I know. Bring on the Portobello delight with sweet potatoe fries mmmm- And fun conversation – Joel , can you please always come with great dinner conversation like that? What are your top three choices of ways to die? – Shark attack (by a great white) I’ll never hear that and not think of you!

update-

I just tasted the caramel in the process of beginning to clean up.. it's GooD!! it works!!!!!
(maybe it would work even better without burning the pan?)

Sunday night treat?

So- I kind of forget that I have a blog most days…

Cami and I were hanging out tonight and we were talking to Paul and Kerry and decided that we wanted to make sopapillas’s.

I thought it would be fun and it sounded yummy anyway… So Cami told me that she had yeast and since it was 6pm – I figured there would be time to make them… Yum, Sunday night treat.
Then I found a recipe on line that didn’t require any yeast (I learned the scorched milk trick) so I was excited to try it out! We were out of milk so Cassidy brought some over for us (Thanks Cass!) - So off I went to experiment with the recipe and my sopapilla skills J

Then Paul said how great they tasted with Caramel, so I though I could make that too. I heard once how to make it with condensed milk by just boiling the can in water.

So the caramel was started and the sopapillas mixed and oil was heated –
In goes the first clump of dough… it turned brown in 2 seconds and I pulled it out. It was a little brick on the outside and dough on the inside… well a few minor adjustments to the temperature and the thickness of the dough and I have to say they turned out better than I thought after the first dough went in! They were actually pretty yummy.
We tried cinnamon and sugar, honey (that was old) whoever said honey lasts forever.. um false.
And just good ‘ol butter mmmmm.
We also fried up some store bought tortilla dough that Cami had – those kind of made thin chips. They were all pretty good though.
But 1.5 hrs later the ‘caramel’ still was not done. So, I thought I would just let it keep going.
Kerry and Cami kept complaining that their eyes were burning and we figured it was from the oil. ???
In the mean-time I got busy looking for some incriminating photos on my camera for them to mock, when something was definitely not smelling right.
I went to check on the caramel and the water had completely boiled out and I burned yet ANOTHER pan! (I go through more pan’s than anyone ought to admit to!) - seriously I forget about boiling eggs, pasta, whatever… tonight just happened to be caramel.
I was so excited that our house might smell like something other than onions for two days, ( anticipating a baked yummy small of sopapilla’s! But now we just get burned caramel pan smell. And stinging eyes.
Gosh nothing like fun Sunday treats- Come on over, we’ll share!

Kaycee

Cute picture updates - Thanks Alysa. Hurry Tuesday, Hurry!
Great Grandama Pat - Those are all her real nails! So, Kaycee looks like she might have a little Sas' ya think? Already stickin' her tough out at Grandma.
Ssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooo sleeps - just. need. to. close e..y...e..s.

No Mud Football this year -

So, Last weekend I was able to go up to Cami’s B-13 Family reunion. They have this reunion every year, but I have not been in quite a while. I have been in AZ 6 years this month- And I think I went to a reunion during my 2nd summer – and that might have been the last time. ( Mud football and all!) The picture is from the last one I went to.

Since I have known Cami and her family I think I have met just about everyone at least once…. Except the Elusive Uncle Dennis! In all my years around their family circle he has always eluded me. I have even met all of his kids. This year Uncle Dennis was there too! It was great, and I feel some sense of accomplishment having finally met him :-) . Thanks Uncle Dennis -
The weekend was fantastic! Not only was I in fabulous company but the setting as I mentioned earlier is always perfect! Cami and her family have introduced my to the card game of Nertz ( I think Rachel might of a long time ago before I met Cami, but I only played once and it was pretty much a blurrrr - which is really not so different than it is for me now haha) I am sure that if there was Olympic Nertz that the Gold, Silver and Bronze metals would all go to members of Cami’s family! They are really really good at it, and if they had a family mascot that could be a game I am certain it would be Nertz! They play for hours upon hours on end, go into “tournaments”, team competition and even a tag team of sorts… it can get brutal, but all in good fun. This year was no exception and it was fun to play, and watch, and listen – I had a great time up there!
Monday night we went over to Phil and Kierstin’s for some BLACKBERRY COBBLER! So, I am pretty sure that I am Kierstin’s favorite :-) --- She had me over for cobbler! It was awesome and I love hanging out with them (cobbler or not, but hey- I don’t think I’ll ever turn down cobbler!)

Eat Pray Love

I love the feeling of finishing a book. It’s like graduating from a class on a mini… mini scale. I always have a small celebration when I have successfully gone from cover to cover – a little moment of soaking it all in. The last book I finished was so good for ME! I love this book . I have a lot to blog about and I’m not going to play much catch up about all the wonderful things I have done this summer. – But this weekend I was able to go to Cami’s family reunion in the White Mountains… ( hey, - You ever see any UFO’s there?) In Show Low- it was so much fun and I will blog about it later… but I just wanted to mention that my time there allowed my to finish another one of my latest journeys, I loved this book…….. humm maybe our next family reunion should be in Bali? Anyone?

There are a lot of books that I like to recommend and I can’t say that I would recommend this to everyone, but I loved it nonetheless on my top 10 list for sure!
Delicious food in Italy, Spiritual Ashram’s in India and life in Indonesia… Dad, I am not sure which one I’ll go to first, but it’s definitely coming! I am just giving you enough time to prepare
:-)

Eggs and Spinach?

So Lately I have been eating a fair share of eggs…
And not that this is directly related… but spinach. Every time I eat spinach it makes my teeth feel funny…
So, I just had to check into it. And I figured while I was at it I would try to also figure out why some hard boiled eggs are so hard to peel… and I did but here is some cool stuff about spinach that no one should ever need to know and the coolest egg trick ever… I am going to try it!!!... – well.. in the morning!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN2gYHJNT3Y

Oh - and about the spinach : Why does eating cooked spinach make my teeth feel funny?Spinach contains a large amount of oxalate crystals - mineral salts of oxalic acid. When spinach is cooked, especially canned, heat-processed spinach, some of the spinach cell wall structure is damaged and oxalate crystals leak out. It is this oxalate that gives your teeth and mouth that fuzzy coated feeling. Spinach is also rich in calcium, and calcium oxalate crystals deposit on the teeth, coating them with plaque. Not much oxalate is released when eating fresh spinach because you chew it for only a short time. People who have problems with kidney function should avoid spinach and other foods that contain oxalate, because of the increased risk of producing oxalate stones in their kidneys.
And-
Spinach contains oxalic acid, which combines with the calcium in your saliva to produce the furry feeling on your teeth. Rhubarb, chard and beetroot leaves will all do the same.

See that might just be too much info!

Roses

Also- I really want to thank everyone for making my birthday so cool!
Thank you everyone for the gifts, cards, phone calls and FUN!!!!
Above and beyond them all there is one special thank you that I would like to put here and it is for my Dad!
As I was running around on my birthday I came home for a bit to regroup before I was gone again and there was knock at the door (not uncommon around here) when I opened the door there was a beautiful bouquet of roses .. ( that IS uncommon around here :-)). I brought them inside - Cami asked me who they were from if I had a secret admirer? Haha, I said I didn’t think so! And I opened the card to see the sweetest note from my Dad. I am so grateful for the flood of emotion that I felt when I read the card, how something so seemingly trivial and come with so much love. I have so much gratitude for his guidance, patience, never-ending love, all the blood sweat and tears that he’s given for our family. I love my parents! Happy birthday to me! (Kerry, Here's to ME!) haha Thanks Mom and Dad!

Birthdays!

So for a llllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggg time in my family from 1977 to 1995 to be exact I was the only one in the family to have the Month of July for my birthday!
So - I have to say it was awesome growing up, and I was NEVER spoiled! :-)
But as I got older I was soooooooooooooooooooooo excited when we were blessed by some more July Birthdays! Gosh Kaycee, now is your chance slow poke! So today in stead of catching up on the millions of fabulous summer activities that I have been doing and try to encapsulate so many hours of laughing and playing... I'm not going to. I just want to talk about my fellow July birth-day family!

Yay Porter, Bryant and Savannah! Today is Savannah's big day and yesterday was Bry's. They are lucky because they were baptized the same day together (a pretty cool cousin thing to do!) maybe when they turn 16 they can be each others 1st date… ?
Um, Cami is that cool to go on a 1st a date with your cousin? I know you are the guru about cousin dances... so I though I’d check about dates too :-) ?

Last night I went to Phil and Kierstin’s for Bryant’s birthday and Dustin and Kyla came-
The last time Dustin and Kyla went to P&K’s Heidi said that she really liked Kyla and that she would like her to come back and play, but that Dustin needed to shave. (He’s sportin’ hip beard right now) Heidi really does not like facial hair – even on her Dad. She will pass on the hugs and kisses if Phil’s got his 2:30 shadow going on…
So, last night I was asking her what she thought about Dustin’s beard so she would tell him and she said that he should shave it off - while she was all grin’s and cute about it. Dustin asked her why – she said it was yucky.

Dustin told her that it was a ‘part of him’ and that shaving it would be like cutting off a part of himself or his identity. Then he said maybe we should cut off your hair. “Can we cut off your hair Heidi?” “I chimed in and said that maybe we could use Porters razor, should we go get it?” she said ‘no’… then I think suddenly overcome with fear of the possibility tried to hold back the tears, then could not anymore and burst into crying.
Haha – good Job Dustin, big Bully!
Maybe Heidi will know Dustin as the Hairy Mean Cousin J hahaha

Last Monday Was Proter’s Big Day! He is 13!! I can not believe he only has 1 year until he’ll be cruzin’ the stake dances!
Crazy… look out ladies!

Summer's started for me

I can’t believe how much happens in such short amounts of time. Kudo’s to every Mom who pulls a hat trick and actually updates these on a regular basis.. It’s a mystery to me how you find the time to do it!
I am so glad that Beth is feeling and looking SO MUCH BETTER! It was great to have her here and feeling well if only for a quick overnighter.
Yay to Jackie – She’s getting married! What an amazing few years! Cancer and remission, boyfriends, Missionaries, Italy, school, new boyfriends and a Fiancé – YAY!!!
I LOVE this chapter of all these neices and nephews 'all grown up'– even though it is not really ‘mine’ I LOVE this phase of “Aunt-hood” where all these beautiful, challenging, determined wonderful souls are getting married. Their new relationship’s bring so much fresh perspective to our family and we need it :-) haha it’s all good! Some is just fun and some is therapy- but it’s great and full of ‘G’rowth – I Love watching their lives blossom continually.
And PS Alysa, I can’t WAIT to be a ‘great’ Aunt….. haha sweet, that’s officially going to be part of my title. “GREAT” Aunt, I so earned that! Hahah – huuuuuuuuuurrrrrryyyyyyyy Kaycee!
This summer is already the best!

A late 'by the way'

Hey ! In case any one was wondering George Washington is/was taller than Cami! Haha – you know in case you were wondering.

This was a picture from when we were at Mt. Vernon. It was really neat there! I am so glad we had a chance to take that site in!

Jammin'

Yesterday Porter, Bryant, & Meagan were in a talent show. So I caught some images of them throwin’ it down :-)
Porter was totally rockin’ the drums
Bryant jammmin' on the guitar and Meagan belted it out…
Heidi starred in a show all of her own !
This was a great talent show! I love to see them showing off their skillz!
Check out the sheer joy in Bry's face! haha
PS - I wish that everyone could see how much Porter is the image of Phil. I call him Phil way to often! - It's not a bad thing! He's and awsome kid, that all are!

Heavy Heart

What is it about a broken heart? Why is that once you’ve been there it’s like a mere shimmer can take you back? Like the smell of rain before it pours, or seeing that your about to crash and knowing there is nothing you can do to stop it. And suddenly it happens. Then it hits and for one split-second it hurts so bad you can’t breath and you don’t even feel….. any thing, and then you feel Everything like a brick wall and your immersed in a wave that is so big your not sure if you are going up or down- you don’t even know how you’ll get your next breath and just when you know your drowning and your about to breath water instead of air you get a little break and for a split second you surface to suck in as much air as you can before you go under again.
Those are feelings you never forget and when you see it happen to those you love… you don’t just see it-- You hear it, smell it, taste it, breath it, ache it, die in it, live in it.

Then the morning comes again with the Amazing Grace of a fresh day. And though you feel like you’ll Never be whole again, you can look back on the night before knowing it’s only through tender mercies you’ve made to see this light, and somehow realize you jut took a baby step though it felt like a journey of a thousand years and you get to do the same thing today.

And why is it so important to have a broken heart? It hurts Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamnit!

Is it the surest way to know Godly sorrow? Is it the immediate connection that forces us to our knees for direction through our suffering? Is it the learning to know we can be stronger?
All I know for myself about it for certain is that it’s hard and aches into my soul.

My AMAZING MOM!

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
Each day I am grateful to have been blessed by the guidance of my mother! Her love and kindness towards others has made me strive to offer that in my relationships. Her faith is an inspiration to me. I am so amazed at the strength it would take to decide as a teenager that you wanted to join the church – with all of the other things a teenager could be pursuing. My Mom was a pioneer for her family and I am so grateful! Her faith has made mine possible.
To become a member of the church at 18 and marry my Dad, and have Ken so shortly after I can only imagine what a year that would be! She is such a servant of truth and light.
The depth that she feels love for her family and others is so tangible. She is always serving, whether it’s Sunday dinner, visits to those in need, spending time with her grandchildren… she just makes this world a better place.
I tell her that the older I get the more I become like her each day… and I am so glad! I am so grateful for the part that I just do without thinking because “that’s how My Mom does it!” I am grateful for the legacy that will live on from the valiant habits she has with out even recognizing it.
I love that have inherited funny little quirks too – like her ability to just sleep when she gets tired ;-) Or to see people for who they really are, and want to see then reach their divine potential and cheer them on.
My Mom has natural curiosity and wonder that she gave to her children, she is Christ-like and childlike all at once.
I love My Mom, I am so glad you are mine and I am yours!

50 first dates... or 101.. or more then you can count...

I have thought for a while that we should start a blog of it’s own called 50 1st dates and we could just blog about all the funny dating stories that happen. Being 30, single, and ‘not-shy” about the dating experience I feel like I have had my share of funny, awkward, odd and “take a step back” kind of dating experiences and that we could all get lots of entertainment from a blog like that. Well I had a date recently that was just the opposite of all those and I thought – “Hey! That was great!” That kind that makes all those other funny, awkward, odd….. moments so worth it!

We west on a hike in “God’s Country” haha – Who says that? Maybe only folks over 75 and others who shouldn’t, but it was the first thing that came to mind with the beauty of the desertscape. We went to a state park that is really tucked away. It was so close, it was ‘in my back yard’ - and I had no idea it was there. We started about an hour before sunset so while we were on the trail the sun began to set… and Wow. I could not have wanted to be in a more perfect scene. .. you know the kind where all the world feels calm and right even if you are in this amazing bubble that God created just for you-- the kind that you feel like that act of the play was truly meant just for you because it was so perfect. We were both sad we didn’t bring a camera, … next time :-)
The scenery was incredibly awesome and the company was even better!

Don, if it just takes 3…. One down, haha

So here is to amazing new hikes and great 1st dates -

“Connection”

I love that word. Not, the ‘word’ so much as in the syllables and the sounds it makes – but all that is in the meaning, and representation it is.
I have been taking a Life Coaching class as many of you know and I LOVE it! This week I had the opportunity to work with someone in the class that I have observed over the course of several weeks. I have watched this person’s demeanor and character and come to think of him as a man of great passion, integrity and conviction.
We had an exercise this week where we were to pair up with another class-mate and he chose to work with me.
As we talked and worked on our assignment we had the opportunity to really “connect”. I came to feel even more that he is a man that is very close to “his creator”, “the spirit”, he lives “on purpose” he is “connected”. In general talking and reflecting on the purpose and journey in his life gave me confirmation again the I am right where I need to be. I Love uplifting people! I love the opportunity to share those moments of clarity.
Thank you Phil for our morning talks! Thank you Mike for our morning talks! Thank you Christy for your incredible spiritual strength! I love my family and the ‘connection’ we have and the connection you help me recognize.

Central Park

Hangin' in Central Park

Mom and I at the watchtower

We are Hip in our Harlem Pad!

Loving it!

Ummmm NICE New Yorkers

Well - I was swept off my feet! What more can a girl ask for?

Visuals of some high-lights

The Poo incident... haha - Thanks Jan for taking that!

New York, Washington DC, Maryland,Pennsylvania

So, since about a month plus has passed since then I feel like there were so many stories and Jan and Cami captured lots of highlights so I’m not sure where to start but I just have to give a few of my memories –
1.Mediterranean food anyone? Thanks for being brave!, I guess next time it will just be baklava for one L
2. Harlem. Yep Harlem, For REAL! We took out Mothers to Harlem ( ok that is where we stayed) and they can hang with the best of them! Mom and Beth are bad to the bone
;-) haha Just kidding it turned out to be a GREAT apartment and the people were so nice! We were super close to the subway, which meant super close to EVERYTHING. We crammed a LOT in two days of NYC…
Complete city tour including Stature of Liberty, Ground Zero, 5th AVE, A funny Broadway show – “Curtains” – TWO meals of NY hot dogs and the best little pizza joint.
3. Jan got pooped on. There was not much that was incidentally funnier than that.
Smeared down her hair .. on to the back pack full on pooped on. Geeeeeeeeeeeee.
4.Are we there yet? Are we there Yet? … How close are we? -um who know that apparently after you turn 33 (?) your attention span for traveling is about two minutes longer than a 2 year old? Ok, that my be a slight exaggeration, it might be three minutes longer. – lesson learned. Learn the route before we go and if there is a car ride longer than 2 hrs.. we better have a pretty great activity in the middle somewhere! Snacks didn’t even help!... maybe next time we’ll bring a Dora show?
5. Mt Vernon. Ummmmmmm who likes hiking? That’s nice, because it’s not a real “mountain”! duh. I felt like I really was disconnected with history when we got there I got educated in a hurry. It was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. It was so inspirational regarding the morals and principals that our country was founded on.
It was uplifting and I am so glad we went there.
6. Cherry Blossoms – it was the cherry blossom parade while we were there. We did not go to the parade, but we did see all the blossoms in bloom and it was beautiful
7. Mom, Beth, Jan and Cami – Thank you for being my adventure, best friends and laughing mates on this trip it was so much fun. I love you all and I love the memories and times that were created there. THANK YOU for enriching my life daily!

EYES

I am amazed at the time that people create to blog! It’s awesome, and I need to take lessons. In the mean time I will get to it so sporadically :-)
There are so many wonderful thing is my life right now...
I CAN SEE! WITHOUT GLASSES! It’s such a blessing! I LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to get up, open my eyes and just… seeeeeeeeeee! Nothing is blurry anymore. It was a little slow going at first. And my left eye took quite a bit longer to catch up – but seems to be doing great.
I love that I can drive or read without them – camping, hiking, swimming…. ( not that I have done much of any of that really recently , but I can with out glasses! YAY!

Miracles

There have been so many times in my life that I have had an experience or observation and I think “that’s a miracle!”
I am noticing more and more of them each day. Most of them are too personal, lengthy or seemingly trivial to ‘blog’ but I am just amazed at the fact that the more I ‘notice’ the MORE I “notice!”
Just three yesterday that really amazed me.
This morning alone already two! That does not even take into consideration the constant wonder of grass growing, children growing, our bodies healing and on and on… The ones I readily notice are just the selfish ones that I feel affect me in a more direct way! Duh!

I just wonder how many things happen that I chalk up to coincidence or synchronicity – when it’s really one small miracle after another, for as many little details that go “wrong” it’s so easy to feel frustrated and it seems so silly to me, when I need to take just a moment to recognize the awe of what is all around me.
I am working on just being grateful in knowing that the same source that developed my ten fingers and toes….. kidneys, lungs, heart… spirit and all of me - -already has everything that I NEED on the way! I never doubted when I was an embyo developing (well, I don’t remember feeling stressed out there and way!) that I would come out in one piece. I don’t know why I worry about trivial things each day when I already know what the end looks like.
I am grateful for miracles! I am grateful that what I need is already and always on the way, sometimes it’s just up to me to recognize the package when it arrives.

Princess

Along the way-
On the way to Oregon at one of the early stops at a gas station/convenience store there was a rack of toys for children. One of the toy options was a set of ‘princess’ shoes in a few different color princess options.
Well- one of my favorite little travelers really, really, really, really wanted them, in a way that only a true three year old princess can.
When she was told ‘no’ her small pout soon tuned to a light tantrum, then tears, next full blown screaming. ;-) In effort to calm her I asked her if she know where all the princess shoes and crowns were at Grandama house? She said she didn’t, and by the time we got there with all the activity we had both forgotten the incident.
One night we were all together and I remembered what I had told her, since we did not find any, we decided we would make some with REAL GLITTER! Every princess needs a crown!
This seemed to do the trick…
And then of course we all had to be a princess for a moment…

Oh! Chelsea!!!

I should have added this in the beginning to my favorites of 2007! I don't think I need words...

Kung fu fighting

kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachow!
So... blah blah... apparently I have been ‘neglecting’ my blog.
Here I am. In case anyone has missed Cami’s blog video. It’s not that I have not been active. Hahah
So one of my favorite stories this week…
Cami and I had the TV on and the weather forecast came up. I was not really paying attention to it. And All the sudden Cami just got MAD! I didn’t know what happened, so I looked up as Cami was yelling profanities at the television screen. I tuned in to hear the weather man say that we would be upto 90 degrees Fri, 100 Sat and up to 102 Sun. At this point Cami was just fuming and say things along the lines of ‘ you have got to be KIDDING me” ( haha – for those of you who know Cami, I am sure you can be creative to know what the real word(s) were, then I started laughing out loud when we saw that is was a commercial! Haha
I don’t remember what it was advertizing over Cami’s blasting anger – But I do know that Cami is not ready for the heat any time soon.
Cami, thank you always for keeping me laughing! Haha & keeping the child in me thriving with kungfufighting and posing pictures….

Dad's Surgery

After having double knee surgery, my Dad is such a trooper! I talked to my Mom on Sat night about how everything was going. She said that he was about to take his 2nd lap around his little unit area (He was supposed to take one, but he was going for the Gold!) so we talked as they walked… he is doing far better then expected already and everyone is notably impressed.
Haha – my Dad is stronger than your Dad!
So as they began their 3rd lap! - my Mom started to giggle.. I asked what was happening.
She said that Dad was feeling so good that he decided to “show off” by lifting and carrying his walker around this time!
I told her that he was showing off for HER , showing her how tough and strong he was. She started to giggle again. I asked her if that was ‘sexy?’ and after more giggles she said.
“no.”
“He does not look very sexy right now. He looks a little worn out, tired and he’s in a hospital gown, so that is not sexy either”
I told that a hospital gown could be sexy… and asked if he flashed her with his little bum yet? - She giggled some more and said "no"
Then the Doctor came by, so it was time for them to go.
I hope that when I am 65-70 & more, I will be with the one I love laughing, loving and growing with them still creating memories like my parents do. I LOVE them!

My kind of Nativity

Every year some of my favorite cute little people enact the nativity story for Christmas Eve. Dustin was the first Little Joseph. I mentioned to him that maybe the next time we all go home for Christmas, He could be Joseph again (his 24 year old macho-ness did not think that was such a good idea). Hummm I’ll keep working on that. Kyla... Mary?
Ariona is the coolest Angel!

Viewer discretion is advised.

Can you guys see this?
# 1 – it’s for REAL!
#2 – this is not even a joke
#3 – hahaha Welcome to Washington – home of the phallic Geoduck Mascot!, Welcome to Oregon home of the Beavers! - Come on you guys! --- and they made us change Squaw Peak?
Seriously?

In case there are still un believers - these are for real - Per the left.
And now thanks to Chantel and Dean, I can be an avid supporter! GO GEODUCKS!

Heaven and Nature~

K – Rach you might want to skip this one… it’s fair to warn you right?
So just because one day this may be used as some kind of reference for any questions – say for something like “did Jera like Christmas?…” or something like that… I wanted to share a little walk in my mind that I had. When I was visiting home for Christmas I went to the YW class with my Mom who teaches the beehives. During opening exercises the girls began discussing the ‘new’ lyrics of the song Joy to the world.
The spot in the where it was “and Heaven and Nature sing.. or” and “Saint and Angels sing”…
And one of the girls was mocking the part about “Heaven and Nature” signing - how it’s a good thing the lyrics are saints and Angels.
K, since this is my blog and I can say what I want - and take any ramifications as they come. I want to say I like the one about Heaven and Nature singing best. The girls mocked the thought that “nature” could sing.
I so believe it does! Nature speaks to me every day … and when it sings it is beautiful! After I thought about that. I felt a little sad that the girls who were talking about that really don’t know that nature sings! I look forward to when they do- and until then I will try to take more opportunities to hear nature sing to me!

Bongers

Another favorite. Like drum-sticks with racquet’’ balls on the end. Bongers may be a new favorite past- time thanks to Mike! Cami & Jan got the knack right away! Good job ladies! Mike uses them in his practice daily to release muscles @ origin and insertion points. After hours of initial entertainment for several reasons. The exploitive instructions alone… these have become a Christmas Fav!

Rach, this isn’t too deep or ‘touchy, Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeely’ right ? J
